Carol Atkinson gives the following account in her own words.

I have an annual service contract with British Gas for my warm air and hot water system. When it was serviced in September last year, I was told I was very lucky to be alive as it was leaking "low level" carbon monoxide. This was from the water part of the system. Repairs were carried out and I was told it was safe. On the 20th October 2003 the annual service was carried out again, lo and behold I was told that I was very lucky to be alive as both the heat exchangers on the heating and hot water section was cracked and leaking "low levels" of carbon monoxide.

The service engineer this year intimated the repair carried out last year was unsafe as it was leaking carbon monoxide into the living area.

The system has now been shut down and the gas capped off, they are offering to repair the system under the contract, but how can I have faith in their work. Will I still be alive to complain again this time next year.

I have obviously tried to complain to British Gas, but got nowhere, any suggestions on where I go from here.
